Karaleti

Karaleti is a historical village, standing on Shida Kartli valley 8 km from Gori formerly “Nacharmagevi”. A bill with an old settlement was found in Karaleti dating back to late Bronze Age. In XI-XII Nacharmagevi was a political center of Shida Kartli. In XVIII it was badly damaged by Lezghin raids….

 The old settlement is an archaeological monument standing in the center on the hill, dating back to late Bronze and early Stone ages.  Lot of things characteristic of the epoch were found during the excavations….

St. Mary’s church is an architectural monument standing in the village of Karaleti, dating back to feudal epoch. It is a single-nave church (7,9m x 5,3 m), built of cobblestone. The church has got two windows, the entrance is in the western portion of the south wall….

         The building is badly damaged!
