Akhaldaba

St. George’s church is an archaeological monument, standing to the south of the village of Akhaldaba, near the forest. It dates back to late Feudal Epoch. It is a single-nave church (7,8m x 4,6m) built with large square sand stone and cobble stone. The corners and the sides of the entrance are dark wine-coloured and the supporting arches, and cornice is made of brick. In the corner of the east facade a cross is made framed with two paralel lines. The roof is two sided covered with the second cross in the front part with tiles….

       Presently the building is damaged!

 St. Mary church is an architectural monument standing on a hill in the village of Akhaldaba, belonging to the early years of X century. It is a single-nave church (9,7m x 7,2m) built of fragmented stones. The corners are made of tufa. The vault, arch and choncha are made of brick. On the east facade in the front area there is a relief cross made of dressed stone….

 There is an archaeological monument in the center of the village “old settlement” dating back to late feudal epoch……

 

The archaeological monument the “Tomb” belongs to the late Bronze period…
