Adzvi

St. George’s church is an architectural monument, standing north-east of the village of Adzvi on a hill in the forest called “Tsminda Mukha” (Saint Oak) The single nave church (6,6x5,0) belongs to VIII-IX century. It is built of fragmented and cobblestone. Flat brick is also used. The south door is arched. To the north of the altar there is a little square niche; to the south is a similar window. On the axe of the apse there is a feast stone. There is a narrow window on each wall except on the north one. In the middle of the south and west facades long tiles of shale appear across the wall. The church is damaged! The roof and the corners are ruined. The attached south building is ruined too. Half of the east facade is covered with earth...
