Music as language and faith always executed important mission in salvation of Georgia, since music is shelter of spirit and protection to its traditions together history heritages has important role in development of national aspiration.
In 1876 a teacher-training seminary was founded in Gori which at the same time served as Music College. All kinds of instruments were taught there. Each graduate was responsible to teach music, singing, chanting while working at school. The director of the seminar invited foreign teachers and together they formed a string and two winding orchestras, a singing chorus led by Simon Goglichidze. A student of the seminary later a well-known bandmaster Alexander Kavsadze performed in the above chorus who brought up another famous bandmaster Michael Kavsadze. In 1923 a singing chorus was created under the direction of Grigol Razmadze.
In 1933 a composer Giorgi
Svanidze composed a dancing and singing ensemble (60 men). The
development became a usual feature in the musical life of Gori region. Many
famous musician such as: Vano Muradeli, Sulkhan Tsintsadze,
Alexander Machavariani, Giorgi Svanidze also Azerbaijanian composers
such as: Uzeir Hajibekov and Abdul Muslim Magomaev at different times
accomplished their education in Gori. A well-known pianist and teacher Alioz
Miandari contributed to the establishment of the professional and
pedagogical basis in Georgia. Nowadays Gori continues to develop its musical
traditions….

The college was created in 1963 and its first graduation took place in
1968. The college is a two-storeyed building constructed in 1968. The concert
houses 800 spectators; There are 22 houses classes, a recording studio, a
library, also grant and upright pianos made in Germany, Chekoslovakia and Russia.
The college has a holiday house in the village of Bobnevi (Boshuri Gorge).
The house has a concert hall where international symposiums, conferences
and meetings can be held.
Many faculties functioning in the college are as follows: piano,
solo-performances, orchestra, choral conducting, music graduates among them the
most talented ones continued their studies.
In
Tbilisi Vano Sarajishvili State
Conservatoire. In 1970 “Gori Women Chamber Chorus” was born under the
direction of an order bearers of international competitions, people’s artist
of Georgia Shalva
Mosidze.
In
1971 the ensemble was first favored in the competition of Music College held in
Tbilisi. This year was the beginning of what is today Woman Chamber Chorus
movement in Gori. Gori Woman Chamber Chorus has taken part in many international
forums and festivals for 25 years in Russia, Latvia, Estonia, Armenia, Germany,
Hungary, Bulgaria, Malta, Kvipr, Spain, and Ireland, France. The chorus was
invited by Moscow State Conservatoire. The chorus became a prizewinner of Choral
Music International Competitions an 1986 – Bela Bartoc festival (Hungary-Debretsen)
and in 1989 (Germany Markto Berdrof).
Here is what Marcel Cornelio says about the chorus: “ I’ve listened to many wonderful choruses, but only a few of them have remind in my memory. The music inspired me greatly. The technique of performing, expressiveness are absolutely unique. “When I’m listening to your music I get an impression that I’m listening to beauty itself.” I 1989 Georgian Women Chamber Chorus under the direction of people’s artist of Georgia, Zakaria Paliashvili Prize-winner and International Competition order bearer Shalva Mosidze became a member of European Cantata – The European Federation of young Choruses.
Due to the financial difficulties the chorus can’t pay membership fee. Georgian Chorus Society is a member of the above Organization as well.
In 1985-96 many International Choral Festivals were held in Gori. The Festivals haven’t taken place since 1986, but the College is working out plans for holding chamber Music Festival: “ Georgian Stars” in Bobnevi!
In 1980-90 an Opera Studio was created in Gori Music college, which staged the following plays: “Orpheos” by Gluk, “Engagement” by O. Taktakishvili, “Secret Wedding” by Chimaroza, children’s operas-“ Red Riding Hood” by Gokieli….
One of
the significan of the college is Vano Muradeli.
Vano
Muradeli was born in 25 September 1984 in Tbilisi.
He
is studying in music school, which has the name of Sulkhan Tsintsadze.
In 17 November
1994 he acquired the second prize and the name of laureate in the first estrade
singing TV festival “Golden Autumn”;
In June 1995 he became the winner of national folk songs in the republic;
In September of 1995 he acquired the first place and became the laureate of Children’s Second International Festival in Borjomi;
In November 1995 in the festival of estrade singing “Golden Autumn” he won the highest prize;
In November 1996 he became the laureate of youth festival “Okros Martve” and a third prizewinner;
In 25-30 April of 1997 he took place in the first Delphiada of youth he received a certain certificate;
In 1 June, 1997 Gori governor rewarded him with the honorable charter for his success in art;
In July, 1997 he was rewarded with diploma, for taking active part in the State Program “Future of Georgia” in Ureki;
In 21 April, 1998
Vano Muradeli took part in Concert of Georgian Children where he was given the
plate with such inscription: "75 Anniversary of the Foundation of the
Republic of Turkey. On the occasion of the National Sovereignty and Children's
day. Ankara 23 April 1998."
In 1998 Vano
Muradeli’s name was taken out from the list of President’s scholarships,
though with the initiative of President’s chancellery representatives: Badri
Khatidze and Davit Koblianidze he was given 200 lari by Municipality of Gori;
In 20-31 August, 1998 V. Muradeli took part in days of youth “ Okros Akvani 98” in Kechkhobi;
In 26 September, 1998 Vano took part in a big concert which was arranged in the park of Borjomi;
In
December of 1998 Vano took part in the International Festival of Children -
“Brolis nadzvi”;

The
school was created in 1937 comprising only 15 students. During the Great
Patriotic War the school stopped functioning, but renewed its work in 1944.
The school has a concert hall and classrooms. It includes 350 students
and has the following departments: piano, violin, flute and guitar. 40 graduates
of the school continued their studies at Tbilisi State Conservatoire such as:
composer: M. Khorbaladze, honored art worker: M. Berdzenishvili, teachers of
conservatoire: L. Kovalenko, singer- D. Gurasashvili, etc.
The school has some talented students: Enukidze
Nato, (VII grade, teacher. E. Rostevanishvili) became a prizewinner of
Music schoolchildren competition of the best performers of Georgian Composers.
(1998), a laureate of Shida Kartli in the First, Second, Third Regional
Delpiadas (1998. 1999, 2000) diploma
bearer of young pianists’ competition (1999), a diploma bearer of the
competition dedicated to 75- th birth anniversary of O. Taktakishvili.
Meparishvili Mariam (V class, teacher E Shaverdashvili)
became a diploma bearer of the competition dedicated to the 75th
birth anniversary of O Taktakishvili (2000), a laureate of the third Regional
Delphiada.
Children’s chorus is funetroning at school, conductor and composer (J.
Beglarishvili), which regularly takes part in competition at country level and
has many honors and diplomas.
Due
to financial difficulties the work of the school has to fare problems. The
school building and the instruments are in need of make up and repair.

The Music school was formed in 1971 comprising 280-300 students a year.
There are piano and string departments: violin, flute and guitar.
Among
many school graduates more than 30 talented students continued their studies in
Gori Music College and later in Tbilisi Vano Sarajishvili State Conservatoire,
such as: Lia chonishvili, Head of Chorus Conducting department), teachers: Diana
Nanitashvili, Nana Andguladze, Tamta Babilua, Sveta and Eliza Arutinians,
Khatuna Maisuradze etc. Many talented students took part in concerts with the
symphony orchestra, such as: Lia Nebieradze, Tamar Chumburidze, Tea Gigashvili,
Nino Andguladze, Ina Charuashvili, studens of assistant professor of the
conservatoire Alexander Garber), Nino Andghuladze and Sophia Tsertsvadze are
studying in Tbilisi Zakaria Paliashvili Music Gymnasium at Tbilisi State
Conservatoire. They take part in competitions and concerts.
Ina
Charuashvili has been favored abroad. In 1998. Ina Charuashvili got a
second price and special diploma of Georgian Yong pianists’ competition in
Gori. In 1998 thirteen year old Ina was invited to Israel to take part in
Bersheva First International competition Festival, where she got the third place
among the participants under 15. In 1999 fourteen year old Ina got a second
place in Italy in 28- th International Senegal Pianist Festival, She was the
first pianist-laureate from Georgia at this festival.
In
2000 she got Liza Leoskia scholarship (Austrian pianist).
In 2000 15 years old Ina as an exception was invited to New York to take
part in Jacob Phlier Music Performers’ International Competition ( a piano
summer in New Palst.) She became a second prizewinner and laureate.
From
1973 girls’ chamber chorus was functioning in the music school, conductor J.
Beglarishvili, which took part in many competitions in Georgia.
Due
to financial difficulties the school has the face difficulties. The building and
the instruments are in need of repair and make-up.
