Gori art school was founded in 1957 on the initiative of the honored teacher Anna Peradze. The art school has had a new building since 1977.
In
2000 the school was named after Anna Peradze.
There is no other art school in Shida Kartli and it serves both the youth
of Gori and that of the whole region. The school has light rooms, interiors, and
the copies of the sculptures of the antique and renaissance epochs.
All the teachers of the school are members of the Union of Georgian
artists and the vice-director Irodion Mchedlishvili is an honored artist of
Georgia.
A number of interesting exhibitions have been organized since the opening
of the school with the participation of wall-known Georgian painters, pupils and
young artists.
17 graduates of the school are members of the Union of artists in fine
and applied arts.
The course lasts for 4 years.
Approximately
a 100 pupils are taught at school. The principles of applied arts are taught
together with fine arts, such as: pottery, gobelen, carpets, rugs, metalwork,
wood work, enameling.
